oVERTHROWN

An Epic Grimdark Fantasy Series

One of my first book loves was fantasy. I grew up on Tolkien’s LoTR, The Hobbit, and C.S. Lewis’ Narnia. When I got older I added science fiction to the mix. Heinlein, Clark, and Asimov were some of my early favorites, but that list has grown exponentially. Overthrown is my story, a sweeping six part Grimdark Fantasy series full of swords and sorcery, fantasy adventure, heroics, betrayal, and sacrifice. Denoril has become my second home - a beautiful and altogether dangerous land of thrilling adventure and spine-tingling mystery.

Planned

Volume 4 - The Prince of Orphans

Volume 5 - Blade of Ashes

Volume 6 - A Song of Bones

Overthrown: The Chronicles of Denoril

I started writing the Chronicles books as a way to expand the Overthrown universe, introduce you to new characters, and incorporate just a tad more world building. The Delving takes place ten winter thaws before The Winter of Swords, but you’ll quickly recognize the cast of characters - a few of them at least! The books that follow will bridge the gap running up to Overthrown’s start, and will tease some characters sure to pop up in the forthcoming series novels. If you’re a fan of ancient burials, long-lost secrets, peculiar magic, and every day heroes, this series is for you!

The Delving - Overthrown by Aaron Bunce is book 1 in The Chronicles of Denoril. Thorben Paulson is nothing special, just a man trying to bring up his family but with the Council Tax Collectors demanding more each more, both food and coin, he is struggling. Desperate, he tries to get a loan but things don’t go his way. Then a man from Paulson’s past arrives in town, bearing a map. He gives Paulson a promise – do one job for him and there will be enough coin to see his family fed and happy for some time to come. This is no ordinary job. Paulsen must head into the underground crypts to retrieve dalan relics, delving in the ancient tombs. The problem is, the Council has ordered the tombs to be kept locked. Why? What are they hiding beneath the ground? And can Paulson complete the job and get out unscathed?

The Delving (Overthrown – The Chronicles of Denoril Book 1) by Aaron Bunce is an unputdownable book, a page-turner that will have you sitting up into the early hours as you devour the contents of this fantasy story. The descriptive nature of the writing will kick your imagination into overdrive; you’ll be there in the ancient tombs with Paulson, you’ll face those creepy creatures with him. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll end this book wondering just what sort of a journey you have just been on. The characters, especially Thorben Paulson, are realistically developed and you will be rooting for Paulson and his family all the way through this. You’ll see injustice and you’ll want to fight for him; you’ll see sadness and will want to cry for him. All the while, you’ll be on a fast-paced rollercoaster journey that will leave you breathless as it twists and turns its way to the heart-stopping conclusion. Great story, highly recommended for fans of fantasy stories but I think that anyone will enjoy this story.
